I'm sitting here dinking around some more on VOX and reading up on Hawaii, when an e-mail comes in from my boss. He's wondering if I'm available to come in to work tomorrow, Friday, all of next week, and possibly more! I'm just in amazement over how things seem to work themselves out... I've been out of work for about two weeks again and have really been in a slump over it. It's not like I don't have a shit-ton of work to do here at the house, but more so because of the lack of money coming in. Then after last night, buying the honeymoon tickets, I was feeling pretty crummy about the effect it would have on my bank account. Not to mention I've been struggling internally with my future career decision(s). Having to find another more stable job and wondering if I want to stay in the same line of work or try for something different. That's another story though...
This may be small, but is still an example of how God truly does have a plan for us all. Even for the short term.
In other news, I learned a lot about Hawaii within a couple hours of reading this afternoon. People weren't kidding around when they said Hawaii The Big Island Revealed was the most excellent Hawaiian guide book. It covers the real things you need to know, is very easy to comprehend and to navigate to what you want to know right away. I think it helped that the author actually spent years living and exploring the islands before he wrote the book as well. I had no idea that the Big Island was the youngest of the Hawaiian Islands. I always assumed it was the oldest because it was the largest, which is kind of retarded since my great grandparents lived on Oahu for a very long time and my Grandma was born and raised there as a child. Turns out the Big Island is home to five volcanic mountains, two of which are still VERY active, and it's been found that there is a new volcano being born (it's currently still 3,200 feet below the ocean's surface though). I also found it interesting to know that Kilauea is the most active volcano on the planet, but hasn't erupted since 1983. I would now like to take the time to ask all the volcanoes very kindly to please not erupt while we are honeymooning on the island. KThanx! ^_^
lol Oh my, I seriously need a break from this book and this computer. Nate should be home before long, so I should really go wash the dishes and think about dinner. I'm supposed to think of something fun to do tonight, but I have nothing. *sigh* Oh well, we'll come up with something.
Gah! So, I recently developed some motivation to partake in the forums on the MLP Arena once again. Go figure that as soon as I do, the site decides to be uber slow and thus I haven't gotten that many posts in. Instead I get to sit and wait for each page to load and it's really starting to irk me! I really miss the days when it was a smaller community. You know, when there were only 2,000-3,000 of us... Now there are 6,244 members! O_O It's great to know there is a growing population of My Little Pony collectors, but GrrRr to them slowing down my posting!!
Oh yeah, so my original reason for wanting to post here today was to announce that we finally bought our plane tickets to Hawaii last night!! We'd been sitting on it for a while because we wanted to wait to see if any good flight deals would pop up. With the way the airlines are running these days though, we realized it just wasn't going to happen. We ended up spending a tish more than we had hoped, but it will be totally worth it since the cheaper of the flights had 2 layovers, one of which would have been 8 hours long! To top it off, we would have flown into the Big Island at 8:10PM. Yeah... somehow driving in the dark on an island we've never been to just doesn't seem one bit appealing. So now, we'll be leaving at 6:30AM on November 2nd and arriving on the Big Island at 2:10PM. We still have to make a couple layovers, first to Denver, CO and then to Oakland, CA, but the time between the flights is significantly shorter. The longest we'll have to wait in an airport is an hour and a half, which is A-OK with me! I is happy!! ^_^
Aside from that happy news, nothing much new... It's another cold and blustery Autumn day and I kind of feel like raking. lol Well, I'm off to attempt more posting at the arena and mayhap read up on the island. Toodles!
Although I practically missed all but a few episodes of season one (the premiere and second or third episode-lol), I seem to be really getting into the second season of Heroes. I almost missed last nights episode, but thankfully my brother was home and able to record it for me. *Squee!* I just finished watching it a couple hours ago now and I'm in so much suspense. Partly because I'm still not keyed in on many events that happened in season one and also because there's a new plot line developing. I can't wait to see next weeks episode! I think I may have to look into buying season one. Money is on the tight side though, so maybe I'll just add it to my Amazon wish list for the meantime...
My Natie Love got home from work a little while ago and I've just been other wise cleaning like crazy. I got laundry semi caught up, the basement vacuumed, and have managed to rearrange the laundry room so that the first thing you see when you walk in, isn't the icky cat box. Now I've got dinner in the oven. Home Style Bakes: Chicken and Biscuits! Mmmm!! So out of a box, but so delish! I also picked up a few apples at the market last night and wanted to attempt baking an apple pie today, but I got lazy.
I'm not really sure what else is on the agenda for tonight. Nate really wants to go on a walk, but I'm feeling wussy and don't really want to walk through the cold wind. Maybe I'll go anyway just to shuffle through the beautifully colored dead leaves. Oh, I'm also pretty excited because Nate finally got a hold of Lori (our Realtor) while he was at work today. We'll be going to her town home on Thursday to look at her couch, some tables, and a few other things she's looking to find new homes for. I'm pretty excited, because she has good taste and soon we will need new furniture to furnish our new home!
Okay, I better quit screwing around on VOX and go check on dinner. Now, what to have with it?? Ciao!! ^_^
So, I just read my introductory post from January when I created this account and I am such a bum! I can't believe I haven't written here since then. To make things fair though, I've hardly written in my LJ all year either. I guess you could just say I've been busy and lacking motivation to pour my guts out onto the computer. I still keep tabs on everyone else's journal and instead of writing in my own, I wish it was I who had the motivation to write on a day-to-day basis. It's a good way to document your life's events and share going-ons with friends and family. But I digress. I am just not that lately. Or should that be, this year? Anyway, don't get me wrong, my life has been anything but dull this year!
The year had a helluva start. Getting engaged last November, the happy news and excitement lingered in the air for the first few months. Lots of wedding detail talk was had amongst friends and family. Picking out the wedding party (which was easy for the most part), finding my dream wedding dress, scouting out our ceremony location and reception hall, designing save-the-date cards, addressing invites, planning menus, and much, much more. My head still spins thinking back to everything that went into the planning. My only advice to future brides-to-be is: START PLANNING AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. Or at least have a few set ideas in mind, because the time flies by so fast and before you know it it's your wedding month! Okay, I lied, there's one more tip that I have and it pertains to the budget. No matter how big or small you want your wedding to be, figure out how much money you have to put into your wedding and stick to it! Things add up fast and we're ever so glad to not be in debt over our heads! Enough wedding talk though...
As summer neared, my family life took a turn for the worse. The time came for all of us to decide what we wanted to do with our futures after the wedding. Without sugar-coating it, months of verbal abuse and heated discussion went by and the decision was made to sell our childhood house and go our separate ways. The way it played out was awful, but we all knew the decision would one day come and unfortunately it was always put on the back burner. My Dad has since moved out and my brother has moved back home after being put on academic probation at his college. Nothing is the same nor do I think it ever will be, but the environment has already begun to improve now that I don't feel threatened and under my Dad's control all the time.
Before I knew it, September was here! On September 6, 2007, oh-so very early in the morning, Nate and I were married! It was a beautiful day and things for the most part went perfectly. I couldn't have asked God for a more beautiful blessing than what he's given us both. The month really flew by and I can't believe we've already been married for one month. Newly-wed hood has been treating us quite well though. Nate is working hard to move up the ladder at work and help grow the company. Work for me has actually slowed down quite a bit, but we have both been very hard at work cleaning up our house so it will be ready to sell. We had our first showing last week and I cannot wait for more to come! It's tough keeping everything tidy 24/7, you know, just in case a Realtor calls for a showing, but I know in the end that our hard work will pay off. We spent last Saturday looking around town with Nate's sister at town houses that were up for sale. The idea of having a place of our own to start our new family is so exciting!!
Well, that's basically the gist of what's been happening in my life this past year. It has truly been a whirlwind of events and I know I haven't even covered the half of it! I'm seriously going to try to keep this thing updated on a more regular basis though. I want to be a day-to-day girl. ^_^ Take care!
'Ello all! Out of curiosity, I've decided to venture over here from Live Journal. Just thought I'd see what all the hype was about and now I'm in the know! So far VOX seems 100x better and more expressive than LJ. I wont trash talk my LJ, I am fond of it, but it's creative limitations have always irked me so (I'm cheap- don't wanna pay out the $$ for a paid account). Plus with work being uber slow lately, I'm streching lengths for things to keep me from dying of boredom.
I guess that's really all for now though... I'm going to go explore this place a tish more. Until we meet again! <3!
